Remote Clinical Trials

The COVID-19 pandemic created a boost in the acceptance of remote assessments. This pivot allowed some studies to continue at a time when many patients were unable to come in for routine study visits. Remote clinical trials have advantages outside of the pandemic as well.  They reduce travel burden on patients and their caregivers, and they allow for enrollment of patients living in areas without nearby trial sites. Regulatory agencies have also expressed greater openness to remote models, and many have released new guidance on the subject.

VeraSci has experience conducting remote clinical trials and has helped sponsors work through the challenges of moving to remote assessments. VeraSci has been playing a central role in the International Society for CNS Clinical Trials and Methodology (ISCTM) Innovative Technologies Working Group meetings between FDA and industry on implementing remote assessments in the context of COVID-19.

Remote Motor Assessments

Many CNS clinical trials include motor assessments as either an outcome measure, like in many Parkinson’s disease trials, or to detect motor side effects like tardive dyskinesia. Learn more about conducting remote motor assessments.
